I have recently partnered with a gentleman who has a manual machine shop with welding and fabricating capabilities. He has been in business for about fifteen years, in the heart of the Kansas oil industry. Using my expertise, we are looking to expand into a full CNC shop. I have previously ran the shop for Wellhead System Inc. in Hill City, Kansas and now am pursuing my own ventures. In addition, I have been a machinist/ programmer/ designer for fifteen years in various machining industries, including aerospace, molds, prototypes, and heavy duty government equipment (military trailers, tankers, lifts, etc.).

Our shop rates are currently $50-70/ hour, depending on several factors. Of course, volume would drop shop rate.

We are able to maintain quality assurance with a reasonable lead time. I have been through ISO9000 certification with three different machine shops, although currently this shop is not certified. When we reach full operation work load, we will start the process of becoming certified.

We greatly appreciate your interest with us and look forward to speaking with you further.

    Best Regards,
    W. Dale Davis, Jr.

It almost seems like a joke. Best part is everybody runs and stands in line waiting for what seems like Nothing. I think the admin needs to sift through the registration process for rfq posters a little bit more seriously or they give everyone one try and if they blow it go somewhere else. Its gone even so far as where I had some one ask me for something and they want a prototype without sending me no model or prints just a photo. They were 40 minutes drive from me I was willing to meet them 1/2 way and get this, he was afraid I-4 would "mess up his rims."

    Thumbs down Waste of time

I agree 100% Madmachinist, Did you even get a print? What a dork to ask for a quote and blow us all off. Even a follow up would be a polite jesture.
Did anyone get a print or any communication from this guy?

I think everyone needs to chill just a little. I have done work for this guy, he paid on time, and was pleasent to work with. He is young and not as experienced as some I have worked with.

The things he does have (that some of us seem not to have) are a vision, a market, and a viable product. I think we all need to cut this guy a break. If you don't want to work with him, fine. I for one, hope to hear from him in the future.
