Greetings -

I have an RFQ for a one-time (small) order. Material thickness thoughts are; "...of sufficient thickness to support the lever action of the switches and mounting/abuse aboard a sailboat." The item is a prototype switch panel for a reverse osmosis watermaker control panel. The item outside dimensions are 5" x 5".

The item will have provision for 4 toggle style switches (12mm) holes required. A single 2 inch hole for a pressure gauge, and 2 mounting holes (9/16") that are 2 1/2" apart, for the flow meter. Four (4) mounting holes are required - about 1/8 inch in diameter. The four outside corners are to be radiused about 3/16 inch.

There are a few engraving requirements; "PUMPS", numbers "1" AND "2", "FLUSH", and "TASTE/TEST." no quotation marks on the engraving please. Font preferences - not Times New Roman! Ariel preferred. Open to other suggestions/offers.

Material options include:
1. Anodized aluminum to provide contrasting color when engraved. (11 gauge?) (NOTE THIS IS THE NEGATIVE IMAGE ... Black Panel/aluminum lettering is the preference.) my mistakeRO CONTROLS PANEL ALUMINUM FINISH.jpg

2. Layered plastic to provide contrasting engraving white on black - or black on white.
3. Alternative material selection/recommendations considered.

This is a prototype item and when completed, may be offered as a drop-ship item from your location, to other interested parties. Subject to negotiation after successful completion of prototype.

Please provide:
1. Material selection/recommendation - you provide
2. Method of production; e.g., laser, machined, waterjet, etc.
3. Price for item
4. Shipping to Post Code 32547 (USPS Priority?)
5. Timing from bid acceptance - to item shipped.

Please excuse the 2 "cheesy" paint shop examples. Unfortunately, I used eMachineshop s/w and it does not seem to export the engraving. Please see the other images for location of the engraving. If required, I can "dust-off" some other options.

Just one of these may cost you some decent set-up time and most likely make this non cost-efficient. But I can still quote this for you using 0.040" Black anodized Aluminum (5" x 5") . Laser Cut and Laser etched (using two different lasers). Any font you want.

Yeah, I was afraid that setup costs would be more of a factor than time and materials for the actual job. Maybe I should go with acrylic/ABS and do a DIY hand-made effort and use Dymo labels! But that would be less than satisfactory for the rest of the boat.

BTW I am redrawing the layout - but only slight variation from the initial RFQ. It remains as "quotable" I believe, as I'm just standardizing on all metric measurements.

Here is a photo of the location. For those interested, it is indoors - but being a sailboat subject to daylight (UV). It gets warm highest we've seen while aboard is 100 F.
