Why - are you guys looking to relocate to Guangzhou? The actual number would be meaningless because the cost of living is also VERY low.

You likely don't have enough experience. They start them out very young over there...

See attached.

You want to come to China? If yes, a lot of Chinese people would like to learn English from you, they are hospitable and bookish.So. you can teach them in training school as your part time job.

That pic is hilarious! I wouldn't mind a bowl of rice a day. That's more than my wife makes me!

Just in case she reads this, I'm just kidding.

Had to cover the bases.

That picture is not hilarious, that is a picture of how we should be teaching our children, you think your kids dexterity on some X-Box will get him or her through life ?

They work, yes their wages are very low, but so is the cost of living by comparison, yes they have humanitarian problems, like we don't!

All these derogatory remarks and insulting innuendos toward the Chinese are not called for, they are trying to make a living, so are you.

Yes, I am worried about all the low cost and many times low quality of imports and the loss of manufacturing here is the USA, but that is our Governments fault not the Chinese people.

Work harder, put out better product, there is a tip for many an American Worker.

Take a joke, Ken.

I'm working 60-70 hours a week and teaching my son the same work ethic. I don't need a lecture on my, or my son's, work ethic.

I'm sure American workers thank you for the tip to "work harder, put out better product" and I know many lazy workers, but how are we going to have a chance to put out a better product when there are no plants.

No hard feelings, but I got my fill of lectures 25 years ago.

eaglegage,
Don't doubt you for one minute on your how hard you work or your work ethics being instilled into your son, but really now, just look at the young people around you, see any problems with work ethics ??? where did they get this ?
I do not need to say because we all know, those of us that work for a living and not just enough to get a pay check have a real good idea where so many of these young people get their ethics.

I will not back off on "American workers" needing to work harder and put out better product, I have seen so many sorry , lazy, unproductive "American Workers" that I could spit, over the years I have hired a bunch of them, you think the work place is not full of them today ??, better open your eyes, better yet they better open theirs and they know who they are, what I am saying shouldn't offend you, you are not one of them, I am not one of them I doubt there any on this board that is but Oh my, they are out there by the droves, bankrupting companies and then blaming the company because they go off shore to get product so they can survive. Example, A Honda plant near by several years ago took over 900 applications for just a few jobs, why you ask ? because over 700 failed the drug test, yes America has a work force problem alright. Maybe it is just in my little part of the world, I don't know, but I bet you will not see that in China !

As long a inexpensive imported products are available, Americans will purchase them. Walmart comes to mind, here...

With free trade across all borders, it is only a matter of time before the average wage of the American is equal to our less fortunate. Equilibrium is bound to take place sooner or later, as the average American will pay the least amount possible for whatever it is that he/she needs. And across our borders, someone is willing to work for less.

I do feel blessed to be from the land of plenty. I just don't expect it to last.

Well said, Ken. I do regret my comment in my previous post.

Me too

Ken,
I would like to apologize as well for my crude post. I've got to learn to keep an open mind.

Thanks,
