I'm looking for a reasonable price for these 5 units. these are for testing of the design... the final production will be done by extrusion followed by finish machining the bottom hole. You'll notice the drill hole has a flat/square bottom... the intent was for this hole to be cut by plunging a 31/64" endmill. Be sure that the threads are as deep as the bottoming tap will allow. The center hole will house a rubber bushing so it should be smooth to prevent abrasion. I called out 32 RMS as a rough estimate... I just want clean cuts from a rigid tool with any chatter kept to a minimum. I've also called out "matte black anodizing" in the drawing... if you have this capability, please quote with and without anodizing. If not, quote the job "as machined". Either way, be sure to indicate which is quoted.

Thank you for your time and attention!

Wasting our time

Why do you people keep wasting the time of companies trying to work for a living!? Your quote indicated a 1 week quoting period, yet you awarded the job the same day. This is one of the contributing factors to the demise of this country's manufacturing base. Stop wasting our time!

Philip,

I didn't realize the importance of strictly upholding the stated quoting period. While I now realize how unfair the mistake is that I made, please allow me to give a bit of background.

I am new to RFQwork.com... in the past, I searched the web and local listing trying to find shops that appear to be a good match. Because I tend to work in smaller quantities, half of the shops I do find tell me to get lost and another quarter don't reply to my inquiry. Until finally trying this great forum, getting quotes has been like pulling teeth. (and finding good ones is a crap shoot) After getting a handful back the morning after my first post I was pleasantly surprised. In the interest of my development timeline, when I saw the right quote I did not hesitate to award the work. My knowledge of contract standard practices and etiquette is most definately lacking. I'm not interested in wasting anyones time of having mine wasted by others. From what I've seen so far, this forum appears to be a great step towards hastening the process for all of those involved.

Please accept my apology. Is there a better solution? I've waited weeks for quotes to trickle in in the past. When I set a one week timeframe in the original post I thought I was being aggressive. In the interest of time, is a quoting period of say 3 days too short? I plan to bring more work to this forum in the future and would like to do so in a way that is best for everyone.

Best regards,
JGS

It's pretty simple... If you state one week, then give us one week. No more, no less.

If you state 2 days, you're going to cut down the amount of quotes you get by a large margin. Quoting takes time, and if you are in a rush all the time, you're going to automatically weed out some good shops.

Yep, a lot of people ignore dates. I wonder if they are doing it on purpose?
Why waste your time quoting a job that was either awarded or died 8 months ago? Maybe I am wrong, but if someone can't read dates, I would suspect they make mistakes reading blueprint tolerances also. I think a majority of people in here bidding are hacks, and the lack of attention to detail proves that.
